As you can see, Only One is a truly unique operation, as well as a motocross team with a mission. I was born without a left hand, yet with determination and support of many special people, I have obtained a professional motocross license, established Glissen Landscaping—in operation since 1986—and now am expanding my horizons with Only One Inspiration—a motivational speaking business which addresses things such as: overcoming adversity, setting and achieving goals, following one’s dreams in the face of hardship, and building and maintaining self-esteem and confidence. I also train and work with young riders at my local track, assisting them with technique, confidence building, and physical training.

Throughout my life, I have faced adversity and stumbling blocks as a result of my missing left hand. At a young age, I became accustomed to the stares and comments of children, and even adults! As a teen, I was told that I wasn’t even capable of sweeping floors at a construction site. In 1979, when I sought a motocross license, track officials had to be convinced that I wasn’t too “dangerous” to myself and other riders. I was almost denied the opportunity to pursue my lifelong passion. I battled my way through these challenges, and now am seeking the opportunity to share my experiences with both young and old, to inspire, to motivate, and help others overcome their personal roadblocks.

As I mentioned previously, I would not be where I am today without the people who stood by me; I feel now is my time to do the same for others who are facing similar struggles.
