    The ISTO provides a complete menu of comprehensive management and operational support, from formation to ongoing facilitation, administration and financial management of an industry group’s daily activities. The resources required and provided can be scaled and tailored to meet the needs and objectives of each group, on an as needed basis.

  • Financial Management
    ISTO recognizes the importance of maintaining meticulous financial records. Participant groups can rest assured that their finances are in capable hands. With a successful record and the necessary expertise, ISTO offers a wide range of financial and accounting support. ISTO provides the Programs in the Federation with a comprehensive standard accounting package, but also has the ability to customize a unique package to meet a Programs specific needs. Financial management is provided under the direction of the leadership (Board of Directors, Steering Committee, Treasurer, etc.) of each group.

  • Market Communications
    Promotion of a group’s efforts and marketing the acceptance of a standard are key driving factors in forming and evolving an initiative. The ISTO provides marketing, communications and public relations support to ensure industry standards succeed in the global marketplace. ISTO assists members in creating an overall marketing and communications strategy and helps groups to execute this strategy to meet their goals and objectives. Through a variety of tactics, ISTO connects groups with their target audiences, while providing support in managing reputation and credibility within the industry.

  • IT Solutions
    As an information technology resource, we adapt our IT tools and infrastructure to meet the needs of ISTO Programs. Within our custom Member Areas (ISTO Workspace), we deploy best-in-class tools to facilitate member collaboration, document management, voting and other activities to make programs more efficient. We host your public website, which includes providing staff for customization and maintenance; You can rely upon our service level assurance for network quality, uptime, and hardware reliability.

  • Conformity Assessment
    ISTO offers a comprehensive Conformity Assessment and Interoperability program to all participant groups. ISTO has the ability to handle the complete certification process or simply assist groups with self certification. The ability of ISTO to operate as a neutral, conformity assessment and interoperability certification authority provides increased benefit to member programs.

 

The IEEE Industry Standards and Technology Organization (ISTO) was established in January 1999 as a global, not-for-profit corporation [501(c)(6)] designed to accelerate and extend standards development and adoption activities for technology industry consortia. Incorporated in Delaware, the IEEE was the founding member of the ISTO. The ISTO maintains an affiliation with the IEEE and the IEEE Standards Association through formal agreements. The ISTO provides an innovative legal umbrella for consortia and a flexible array of program management support. The ISTO is governed by its Board of Directors, Bylaws, and Articles of Incorporation.

The ISTO is headquartered in Piscataway, NJ, and maintains offices within the IEEE Operations Center. The ISTO leverages various facets of IEEE’s infrastructure, including facilities, human resources, controller’s office and IT.
