Apdex Alliance Collaborates with
IEEE Industry Standards and Technology Organization
IEEE-ISTO to Support Advancement of the
Application Performance Measurement Initiative

Piscataway, NJ - December 5, 2005 - In a move to advance the adoption of a standardized performance reporting methodology for enterprise applications, the Application Performance Index (Apdex) Alliance and the IEEE Industry Standards and Technology Organization (IEEE-ISTO) today announced that the Apdex Alliance is now a program of the IEEE-ISTO. Under the agreement, the IEEE-ISTO will provide the Apdex
Alliance with an operational legal forum as well as support for daily activities.

The goals of the Apdex Alliance, which was founded in 2004, are to research effects of application performance on users and businesses, specify methodologies for application performance measurement and reporting, and advance IT management processes through the use of Apdex, which is a numerical measure of user satisfaction with the performance of enterprise applications.

"The Apdex Alliance and IEEE-ISTO partnership will support the development of a standardized method of reporting, benchmarking, and tracking application performance," said Peter Sevcik, founder and Executive Director of the Apdex Alliance. "One of the most challenging management issues is the need to align IT to the business strategy of the company: Apdex provides a significant foundation for this alignment process."
