Power.org Selects IEEE-ISTO as Management Partner
Group aims to position Power Architecture as
Open Standard Hardware Platform for Industry
Piscataway, NJ - December 1, 2005 - Today Power.orgTM, a collaborative community and standards trade group focused on making Power ArchitectureTM technology the preferred open standard hardware platform for the electronics industry, announced the selection of the IEEE- ISTO (IEEE Industry Standards and Technology Organization) as its partner for day-to-day management support. Power.org joins a growing number of trade groups to select IEEE-ISTO for their expertise in working with standards-based initiatives in the technology field.
In addition to core competencies in management, legal and operational excellence for
nonprofit organizations in the standards market, over the past year the IEEE-ISTO has
developed a series of new tools designed to strengthen collaboration between members and market leaders. One unique benefit of an IEEE-ISTO partnership is a not-for-profit standing that allows groups to operate within the legal and operational framework of the organization.
IEEE-ISTO’s wealth of experience and breadth of support along with a strong
background in compliance testing were among the reasons Power.org selected the IEEE-ISTO. "We are focused on building a collaborative community that fosters innovation and open hardware specifications for the entire Power Architecture ecosystem, and the IEEE-ISTO was the right partner for this endeavor," said Nigel Beck, Chairman of Power.org. "Their experience spans the many facets of our scope of work from specification development to qualification. We wanted an integrated and complete approach to our needs."
"Power.org has an important mission in the market, and we are excited to be part of that
team," said Peter Lefkin, COO/CFO of the IEEE-ISTO and the appointed Executive Director and Secretary of Power.org. "As technology communities see more and more need for collaboration and industry standards, we intend to continue to innovate to provide industry groups with the management support and tools they require through their entire lifecycle, from formation to specification development, marketing, and interoperability and conformance activities."
